Ancient glass and the safe disposal of nuclear waste

Description

One proposal for the isolation of radioactive wastes is vitrification. Glasses used will have to be stable for exceedingly long times. Ancient glass offers a source of information about the deterioration of glasses over long times. Some aspects of ancient glasses with applications to waste disposal are described here
