  • 1. Nuclear Inst. for Food and Agriculture, Peshawar (Pakistan)
  • 2. Nuclear Inst. for Agriculture and Biology, Faisalabad (Pakistan)

Description

Four mutants of chickpea 'CM-72', 'CM-68', 'CM-1', CM-2' and six varieties, 'C-727', 'RC-32', 'Aug-480', 'E-1289', '6153' and 'C-44', received from Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB), Faisalabad, were planted under the diverse agroclimatic conditions of NWFP. Mutant 'CM-72' significantly out-yielded all the entries followed by 'CM-68' at Nuclear Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Peshawar and variety 'C-44' at Karak, Kohat. It also gave better performances in disease reaction at both the locations. The mutant 'CM-72' being high yielding and blight resistant can be used as a commercial variety for general cultivation in NWFP. (author)
