- 1. Gunma Univ., Maebashi (Japan). School of Medicine
Description
Thirteen patients who were treated with external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) combined with high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy for prostate cancer were analyzed. Total dose of EBRT was 51 Gy with a fraction dose of 3 Gy using four oblique fields. After EBRT, HDR with a total dose of 25 Gy in 5 fractions was given. Major acute toxicities were transient urinary and anal pain, and Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) grading of toxicity was 1 in grade 2, 3 in grade 1 and 9 patients in grade 0. One patient developed bone metastasis 5 months after treatment, but the others were no sighs of recurrence. (author)
