Radioimmunoassay of testosterone by using 125I-labelled derivative

  • 1. Polska Akademia Nauk, Warsaw (Poland)

Description

A method of the determination of testosterone in extracts from human and animal plasma was presented. The antiserum used was directed against testosterone-11α-succinyl-BSA. Testosterone-11α-0-carbonyl-TME was used for labelling with iodine-125 which resulted in two radioactive fractions of slightly differing polarities. Both fractions proved suitable for radioimmunoassay. The amounts of testosterone (in pg/tube), for which the within-assay error did not exceed 12%, ranged from 20 to 600 and from 40 to 1200 for fractions 1 and 2, respectively. The results obtained showed good agreement with those received by using 3H-testosterone (r = 0.986). 7 refs., 3 figs., 1 tab. (author)
