Electroproduction of m-mesic atoms in heavy nuclei

Description
The effect of the finite size of the nucleus on the direct electroproduction of a m-mesic atom is discussed. An estimate is obtained for the dependence of the cross section on Z and A: s(Z, A)approx.A/sup -4/3/s/sub c/(Z), where s/sub c/(Z) is the cross section in the case of a Coulomb center. A numerical value was obtained for the cross section for the ground state of 244Pu, which is s = 6.1 x 109 b = 10-4s/sub c/
