I increase of onion (allium stump l) yield trough of the seeds treatment with low dose of x- rays

Description

The effect of X-rays doses on the stimulation of the yield and its commercial quality in the onion cultivar Red Creole, cultivated under field conditions. The seeds of the selected variety homogenized to 13% of humidity were irradiated with a source of X-rays, model RT-100, Philips marks, with a working regime of 30 Kv and 10 mA, using an aluminum filter of 0.13 cm to attenuate the hard rays and a collimator of 7 X 7 cm, with a dose rate of 12.9 Gy/min. The transplant was the sowing method used. The nurseries were sowed in the first pay period of October and the postures settled down in the field, in the second pay period of November, using high bed of 1m of wide and 30 of long, at a distance of plantation of 15 X 5 cm and with a density of 120 plants for square meter, under a totally randomized arrangement, with 6 repetitions. The experimental parcels of each repetition were of 3.2 m and a mark of plantation of 0.90 + 0.35 + 0.35 x 0.05 m. Before to the transplant 60 seedling were selected from the experimental variant and evaluated the height, the shoot gar's and the seedling number of leaves. During the crop it was valued the yield, the bulbs weight and diameter and the number of tunics per bulb. The results indicated, that the irradiation produce a significant increment in the quality from the postures to the transplant, in the yield, in the percentage of bulbs of first quality and in the number of tunics per bulbs
