Advances in safety countermeasures at Tomari NPP of Hokkaido Electric Power on the basis of Fukushima Daiichi NPP accident
Description
Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant unit 1-4 lost all AC power supply and reactor cooling system by huge Tsunami following large earthquake in the Tohoku district on 11 March 2011. Therefor nuclear reactor could not be cooled down for a long term and nuclear fuel was damaged, hydrogen explosion occurred in reactor building at unit 1 and 3. As a result, large quantities of radioactive material were discharged outside. In this paper, we introduce advances in safety countermeasures at Tomari Nuclear Power Plant of Hokkaido Electric Power on the basis of Fukushima Daiichi NPP accident. (author)
