Role of water salinity in 137Cs buildup by freshwater fishes
Creators
Description
A series of lakes with different water salinity is investigated; some experiments are carried out to detect the influence of both separate chemicals and water mineralization as a whole on 137Cs accumulation by freshwater fishes. Comparison of the data obtained shows that inverse relationship between specific 137Cs activity in fish tissues and concentration of salts in lake waters takes place. Increase of Na, Mg, and HCO3 concentration in water doesn't practically affect 137Cs accumulation in fish tissues. Increase of chloride concentration leads to considerable accumulation decreasing, especially in muscle tissues
