Use of the Monte Carlo method for control system reliability optimization

Description

A control unit reliability optimization problem is solved on the basis of the Monte-Carlo method. Its essence is the determination of such values for some parameters which maximize the unit accessibility probability for a given time interval. A mathematical expression is given to compute the possibility of operation without failures. The expression is a multidimensional integral allowing for differentiation by integral parameters. Computation of the probability gradient by the Monte-Carlo method is discussed in detail, and advantages of such a computation technique are noted
