Description
T1 and T2 relaxation times have been calculated in 30 patients with rectal carcinoma and seven patients with a fibrotic pelvic mass. The relaxation times were calculated using a multipoint iterative method with data from seven total saturation recovery and six spin-echo sequences. The results show that the calculated T1 relaxation value is a useful discriminant between carcinoma and pelvic fibrosis and should improve the detection of early tumour recurrence. (author)
