Handling non-critical random surfaces. A combinatorial approach to wormhole formation
Description
Reparametrization invariance of triangulated surfaces is extended to allow for fluctuations in topology. As a side result ''foamy'' configurations appear. The proposed parametrizations include the possibility of repeating labels. The distribution of different topologies is estimated. The topological term in the Einstein action (in two dimensions) is recovered from a conditional probability distribution. (orig.)
