Description

The interfacial shear strength of an SCS-6 fiber-reinforced Ti-24A1-11Nb matrix composite was studied as a function of temperature in the range 25-800C in vacuum. The fiber pushout technique was used for this purpose and the measurements were done using a high-temperature indentation machine. The interfacial shear strength decreased with increasing temperature over the range of measurements. SEM and TEM analyses revealed a reaction zone which had formed at the fiber-matrix interface
