Inertial effect on the CREN-K Triga on pulsed mode

Description

The behavior of the Triga Mark 2 reactor of CREN-K in pulsed mode is studied taking into account the delayed neutrons and the non adiabatic characteristics of the system as was done by B.E. Leonard. The outstanding characteristics of the Triga reactor make it possible to divide the time domain in 3 parts allowing the derivation in closed form of analytical relations describing the time dependence of reactor power and energy generated. These relations are an extension of the conventional Fuch-Nordhein model for pulsed reactor. The paper deals specifically with the effect of the time delay between the rise of temperature of the fuel and the shifting of the thermal neutron spectrum. It is shown that as energy generated increases the fuel temperature coefficient tends to become more prompt. The paper proposes a way to compute the time delay ferered to above. (author)
