Linear accelerators for meson factories
Description
A design of the linear accelerator for meson factories is studied. The results of a detailed study of the particle dynamics are reported. The investigation results make it possible to develop an optimal design of the linear resonance accelerator (LRA). A method is proposed for a suppression of longitudinal coherent oscillations by means of matching the accelerator channels of the first and second sections of LRA. An adjustment of the transversal beam position is proposed to be realized by means of quadrupole lenses. The accelerating Alvaretz structures and three types of stabilization systems are considered. A procedure of measuring the beam parameters is described. The obtained data can be used in designing the LRA systems with energy up to 1 GeV and average current of the beam up to hundreds milliampere
