Description
We show that the SU(2) Wess-Zumino-Witten model can be studied in the framework of a zero level Kac-Moody algebra in a consistent way. The dynamics emerges from a globally consistent lagrangian. The canonical formulation leads to a non-Sugawara hamiltonian that can be exactly quantised to generate a Virasoro algebra with nontrivial central extension. (orig.)
