A design of an environmental radiation monitoring system for nuclear power plant

Description

A radiation monitor for power plant area is a set of instruments used to monitor radiation level. The measured physical parameters are radiation level and its likely pattern distribution in the form of wind speed and direction as well as air temperature. The monitoring system consists of a data collecting station and several remote instruments that carry out data acquisition. The data collecting station operated as a master controls the remote measuring instruments as slaves. In the master-slave relation, the collecting station send commands to the slave instruments that will response back with the measured parameter values. The communication is done via wireless radio modem. This paper will discuss the result of a basic prototype design of the remote instrument in the radiation monitoring system. This includes nuclear detection, data acquisition processing module and its related software. (author)
