Superconducting solenoid of the KS-250 combined magnetic system

Description

A construction of the superconducting solenoid for 6.3 T, which is a component of the combined magnetic system is described . The solenoid winding is made up of 25 double disc coils which are connected in series. The tubular current conductors are manufactured from stainless steel with the external copper plating. The solenoid is fixed in the Helium bath which precludes increase of the pressure beyond the established limits. The solenoid is fed from a six-phase rectifier rated for a current up to 1.5 kA. The superconducting solenoid shows the stable and reliable operation at the currents up to 1 kA. The magnetic constant in the geometric center of the solenoid amounts to 63 Oe/A
