Description
The Comprehensive nuclear Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) bans all nuclear explosions and also calls for a verification regime, which consists of the International Monitoring System (IMS) and On-site Inspection. At entry into force of this Treaty, the verification regime shall be capable of meeting the verification requirements of this Treaty. The Preparatory Commission (PrepCom) for the CTBT Organization was established to prepare for the verification regime in order to monitor compliance with the Treaty. This paper presents an overview of the PrepCom, status of verification regime, and the issues discussed in the PrepCom. (author)
