Description

A new method is proposed for the determination of the limits of electron concentration variations in plasma along the line of sight from pre-continuum of Balmer series. It is shown that at one and the same prominence thre exist volumes giving a considerable contribution to the prominence emission measure and differing in electron concentration by more than two orders of magnitude (1010<ne ≤2x1012 cm-3). The characteristic value of ne for the volumes responcible for hydrogen lines emissions is about 5x1010 cm-3. The conclusion has been drawn that at small volumes of a quiet prominence there occurs a powerful (flare-like) energy release manifested in a Balmer pre-continuum
