Structural studies using single crystal neutron diffraction

  • 1. Solid State Physics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, Mumbai-400085 (India)

Description

Single crystal neutron diffraction is a unique technique which can give precise information about the hydrogen positions within a crystal. This information is of paramount importance for crystals where hydrogen bonding plays a pivotal role in determining the crystals properties for example in crystals of technological importance like the hydrogen bonded ferroelectric crystals, proton conductor crystals and non linear electroptical crystals, more over knowledge of hydrogen bonding is important to understand the functioning drug molecules
