Thermostimulated radiationless recombination of impurity color centers in sodium silicate glasses activated by terbium and iron

The processes of photo- and thermostimulated recombination of impurity color centers (CC) of (Tb+)+ and (Fe3+)- in model two-activated sodium-silicate glasses are investigated. Glasses of the 25 Na2Ox75SiO2 composition (mol %) activated by Tb3+(0.1 mol %) ions as well as terbium glasses with Fe3+ ion additions (0.004 and 0.04 mol %) are studied. Spectra and relaxation of induced absorption (IA) during CC thermal annealing, curves of thermoluminescence of irradiated glasses, as well as spectra of photo- and thermostimulated luminescence (PSL and TSL) are measured. The degree of Tb3+ and Fe3+ ion recharging increases in Na2Ox3SiO2 glasses activated by Tb3+ and Fe3+ ions as far as the Fe3+ concentration increases with the formation of impurity CC of (Tb3+)+ and (Fe3+)-. In this case the number of proper electron CCs forming under UV irradiation decreases, and the light sum of thermostimulated luminescence in the 300-700 K interval related to the decay of these electron centers decreases also sharply. In the 300-700 K interval absorption induced in bands of both proper and impurity CCs is fully annealed
