Chiral compactification on Minkowski x S2 of N=2 Einstein-Maxwell supergravity in six dimensions

Description
We show that the U(1) gauged Einstein-Maxwell supergravity in six dimension, spontaneously compactifies on Minkowski x S2, with a monopole-valued Maxwell field on S2. The bosonic symmetry of the backgroun is SU(2) x U(1). The field equation fix the monopole charge to be +- 1. The consequence of this is that the N = 2 supersymmetry breaks down to N = 1, and chiral fermions emerge. (orig.)
