Meeting expectations and building trust

Peoples' interests, comfort and understanding of nuclear power vary widely. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to providing information or building relationships with communities. However, there are three essential building blocks for all relationships regardless of whether we are connecting with people living near a nuclear plant, Indigenous communities, contractors or people with concerns about nuclear power seeking more detailed technical information. The common threads of transparency, truth and trust serve as building blocks for meaningful and respectful relationships that can build a bridge to common understanding and mutual success. This presentation will highlight how New Brunswick Power's Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station has used these three principles to: • Achieve economic, environmental and educational benefit to communities through community partnerships; • Provide the information people need to make informed decisions about nuclear power and the plant operations; and • To sow the seeds for future nuclear generation to create a sustainable, reliable electricity system for the province's future
