National Plan of management of radioactive materials and wastes 2016 - 2018. Warehousing need for high and intermediate level activity - long life wastes

In the case of Areva, this document reports an analysis which aimed at the identification of possible threshold effects in terms of needs of future warehousing, or in terms of extension of the operation duration of existing warehousing. Hypotheses regarding the different types of wastes are discussed: high activity level wastes (nature, warehousing installations, needs and evolution predictions), medium activity level and long life wastes (nature, warehousing installations for the different parcel types, predicted evolution and future needs for the different installations). The sensitivity of warehousing needs to the delayed commissioning of the Cigeo storage site is then addressed for the both types of wastes, and the sustainability of existing installations is discussed.
