Atomic structure

In this paper the authors systematically present the quantum mechanical developments for atoms containing one or more than one electron and consider the details of the spectra of atoms. In Section II they treat one-electron atoms and in Section III multielectron atoms. In these sections the authors also analyze various important interactions and processes, supplying appropriate theoretical foundations. Section III also reviews various theoretical methods that are useful for calculating the electronic structure of multielectron atoms. Characteristic X-rays and optical excitations are considered in Section IV and the Auger Effect in Section V. In Section VI the authors present the concluding remarks
