Shock waves in condensed matter; Proceedings of the fourth topical conference, Spokane, WA, July 22-25, 1985
Creators
Description
In these proceedings concerned with shock waves, topics on the equation of state, optical studies, mechanical properties, dynamic fracture and fragmentation, experimental developments, geophysical materials and applications, hydrodynamics, material synthesis, and energetic materials are discussed. Papers are presented on the theory of the high-temperature shocked metallic state, shock-induced radiation from minerals, a micromechanical model of porous-brittle solids, and strain rate dependence in steady plastic shock waves. Consideration is given to an application of geometric statistics to dynamic fragmentation, shock temperature measurements in ammonia, the shock loading and release behavior of X-cut quartz, and the calculation of the dimensions of the steady Mach wave. Additional papers are on chemical synthesis under high-pressure shock loading and rate-determining steps for ingnition of shocked nitromethane. Special attention is given to computer simulation of nonequilibrium processes
