Evaluation of methods for contrast enhancement in CT

  • 1. Morioka Red Cross Hospital (Japan)

Description

Meglumine Iothalamate labelled with 131I was mixed with 220 ml of 30% DIP Conray and was dripped. Radioactivity curves in the liver, the heart, and the kidney which should be parallel to the contrast concentrations, were obtained by renogram apparatus. First, 170 ml of this contrast was dripped rapidly. After that time, the contrast dripped slowly for 10 minutes to maintain the fixed concentration, and the expected results could be obtained. The ratio of contrast enhancement in the liver, the heart (blood) and the kidney was 1 : 2 : 4. CT units (EMI units) in the liver increased by 7 or 8. The incidence of side effects of the contrast was 11.5%, rashes were most frequently seen, although each side effect was transient. Cases in which contrast enhancement (CE) was effective were demonstrated. (Tsunoda, M.)
