Stochastic carcinogenic effects of chronic population exposure

Description
To assess (basing on the mortality files) the oncological aftereffects of low- and moderate-dose exposure of the population. The files for the regions on the banks of the Techa and Iset rivers in the Urals are analyzed. The radiation situation during the formation of external and internal exposure doses is described. Three groups of subjects with different doses are distinguished. The dose-critical organs are: skin surface, red bone marrow, and the lower portion of the large intestine. The incidence of tumors of some localizations increases in remote periods after chronic, mainly internal, exposure of subjects in moderate and low doses. The incidence and spectrum of tumors depend on the doses absorbed by the dosecritical organs and on the specific features of the natural tumor background in a region. The radiation stochastic effects are more manifest int eh presence of an unfavorable tumor background
