Description

The thermal production rate of low mass e+e- pairs is calculated for central U-U collisions at LHC energy. The results are then compared to dielectron rates from πO and η Dalitz decays. We conclude that it will be rather difficult to disentangle the quark-gluon plasma contributions from competing e+e- production processes. (orig.)
