Lattice characteristics with WIMS-AECL and MCNP-4B codes in a deuterium critical assembly (DCA)

Description
The lattice characteristics of DCA at JNC are calculated to validate the WIMS-AECL code used for the lattice analysis of the CANDU core. The results of lattice calculation for the WIMS-AECL code are compared with those of the MCNP code. Analytical studies for three critical experiments are performed to analyze the effects of four types of fuel compositions at 25 cm lattice pitch. The local power peaking factor (LPF), infinite multiplication factor (Kinf) and coolant void reactivity are calculated for various coolant void fractions of 0, 30, 70, 87 and 100%. The feasibility study on reliability of coolant void reactivity in the CANDU reactor is carried out with measured data at DCA. (author)
