Description
The tetragonal-to-monoclinic phase transition in zirconia powders when exposed to various gas mixtures was studied. Analysis was done at 940 deg C in the presence of argon and different chlorine-argon mixtures. X-ray diffraction shows that the phase transition is accelerated in the presence of chlorine. Transmission electron microscopy reveals changes in the microstructure of the particles subjected to the gaseous mixtures. (Author)
