The dismanting and disposal of contaminated power generating plant piping

Description
The experience gained with the decommissioned KRB A power reactor demonstrates that it is possible to conduct decommissioning of nuclear power generating plants - under rational economic conditions - with low exposure of the workforce to radiation - with negligible escape of activity to the environment and - with only limited production of waste. - The availability of appropriate decommissioning and dismantling methods, suitable decontamination procedures and adequate tolerancing methods and equipment are the precondition for the achievement of this. Part of the work discussed here is receiving financial support within the scope of the European Union's Third Program of Decommissioning. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Erfahrungen mit dem stillgelegten Leistungsreaktor KRB A belegen, dass der Rueckbau von Kernkraftwerken durchgefuehrt werden kann - unter vernuenftigen wirtschaftlichen Bedingungen, - mit geringer Strahlenbelastung des Personals, - vernachlaessigbaren Freisetzungen von Radioaktivitaet nach aussen und - mit einem geringen Anfall an Abfall. Hierzu ist die Bereitstellung von geeigneten Abbau- und Zerlegungstechniken, geeigneten Dekontaminationsverfahren sowie geeigneten Freimesstechniken und -Geraeten erforderlich. Ein Teil der hier vorgestellten Arbeiten wird im Rahmen des 3. Stillegungsprogramms der Europaeischen Union gefoerdert. (orig.)Additional details
