Model-independent approach in the three-nucleon problem
Description
A model-independent approach which essentially involves the short-range nature of the interaction is proposed. Both qualitative and quantitative aspects of the three-body problem are considered. An explanation is given of the main regularities for the physical characteristics of the nd-scattering in both the quartet state (the scattering phase shift δ4(k) and length a4, the effective range r4) and doublet state (the triton binding energy εT, the virtual level energy εV, the scattering phase shift δ2(k) and length a2, the effective range r2, the threshold anomaly under the scattering). Three spinless particles in the short range limiting case are considered and the main regularities are analyzed. The general Faddeev equation with regard to the small interaction range is discussed. The calculated correlation is of the ground state energy with the length is compared both to the zero-range limiting case and the model-independent case. A tendency for calculated correlation relations between the ground state energy and the scattering length is observed. The details of the doublet scattering phase shift near the deuteron breakup threshold are considered. 7 figs., 26 refs
