Experience of the Cuban regulatory authority in the preparation for an EPREV mission - 2018

At the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in its resolution GC (54) / RES / 7, continued to encourage Member States ^... to improve, where necessary, their own preparedness and response capabilities for nuclear and radiological incidents and emergencies ... ^and encourages the Secretariat to assist States ... in capacity development national standards compatible with international standards ... ^. One of the mechanisms used by the Agency to support countries in capacity building according to requirements international is the revision of its emergency preparedness and response provisions through of the so-called EPREV mission (Emergency Preparedness Review) which is a service peer review very useful to strengthen capacities and preparedness arrangements for cases of emergence and identify the areas in which improvements may be necessary. In this context, the This paper exposes the experience of the Cuban Regulatory Authority in the activities carried out by national preparation to receive an EPREV mission in 2018 and shows the results of a objective and independent evaluation based on a Self-Assessment Questionnaire on capacities preparedness and response to radiological emergencies including malicious events that involve radioactive materials, based on the requirements established in document GSR-Part 7.
