The counterterm δL=-1/2M2Aμ2 in the Langrangian of Euclidian quantum electrodynamics and the qauge invariance

Description

The quadratic divergence of the inverse photon propagator in QED comples one to introduce the counterterm δζ=-1/2 Aμ2M2 into the Lagrangian. The work contains a simple proof that such an introduction does not break the gauge invariance of Euclidean QED. The gauge non-invariant part of ζ describes some non-interacting particle. The Feynman path integral formulation of QED is used
