Description
Evaluation of fatigue damage necessitates determination of the strain range. Elastic calculations have certain advantages but the raw results need to be processed. It is demonstrated that this processing must be carried out in two stages. The first stage covers the component as a whole and is based on evaluation of its spring effect. The second is local and relates to stress raisers, using an extension of the Neuber rule. The two stages are described in detail and illustrated by examples. (orig.)
