Monte-Carlo simulation for designing neutron radial collimator

Description

Monte-Carlo simulation has been carried out to design a radial collimator to be used for neutron diffractometer using SIMRES program package. The simulation starts by calculating the resolution of the installed diffractometer. Resolution calculations are then compared and adjusted with a resolution measurement using standard reference materials of silicon and nickel powder. The design of radial collimator is placed between the sample and detector to replace the component parallel collimator and slit attached in the previous configuration. Radial collimator was simulated to have a wide range of 3 mm with a length of 210 mm. The result of Monte-Carlo simulation calculations for the design of radial collimator has a compatibility with simple analytical calculations. (author)
