Collider physics phenomenology
Description
QCD shower calculations of W, Z production are shown to be well approximated by the qq-bar→Wg subprocess with a low-rho/sub T/ cutoff chosen to reproduce the total cross section through order α/sub s/. A similar approximation is applied to heavy-quark production from 2 → 3 parton subprocesses in pp-bar collisions. The results agree with CERN dimuon events for a Β/sup 0/-Β-bar/sup 0/ mixing parameters ε≥0.1, which is larger than Standard Model expectations and at the e/sup +/e/sup -/ experimental limit. Some aspects of searches for supersymmetry and a fourth generation of leptons and quarks are addressed
