Memorandum from the BCRU: effective quality factor for neutrons
Description
There are two aspects to the ICRP 1985 recommendation that the effective quality factor for neutrons should be increased by a factor of two, compared with 1973, about which the BCRU feels concern: 1) It is considered that it would be premature to change this one figure when other recommendations may appear in the next few years. 2) It is not clear why the quality factor for neutrons should be changed while the factor for other particles, such as protons, deuterons, alphas, etc, are not changed.
