7Li production in Nova explosions

  • 1. and Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory
  • 2. Department of Physics, Arizona State University

Description

Calculations of 7Li production occurring as a concomitant of thermonuclear runaways in hydrogen envelopes of white dwarfs are reported. It is found that sufficient 7Li can be produced in models displaying fast--nova-like features to suggest that the corresponding objects represent significant contributors to the 7Li enrichment of galactic matter. The sensitivities of these results to various assumptions and uncertainties are discussed
