BWR type reactor

Description

Purpose: To flatten the reactor core ower distribution and the burn-up degree distribution during operation, as well as to attain reactor shutdown margin capable of satisfying design criteria. Constitution: A low reactivity control rod has a high reactivity portion in the upper end region and a low reactivity portion in a region therebelow. Further, the low reactivity portion has a such a structure that the neutron absorption performance is increased toward the top end. A high reactivity control rod has a high reactivity portion over the entire length as in the conventional control rod, or a control rod in which the reactivity is decreased at the top end portion is used. This enables to reduce the distortion of the power distribution during reactor operation to flatten the power distribution and the burn-up degree distribution. (Takahashi, M.)
