Description
Intermetallic compounds, produced on the surface of iron or nickel under their interaction with borax melt in the presence of aluminium at 900 deg C, are considered using x ray phase analysis method. The results are compared to the data of studying the emf of a galvanic element, one of its electrodes being iron or nickel. It is shown that introduction of 3 mas.% of Al to a borate melt leads to a substantial change of the galvanic element emf, which can be linked with the change of the character of processes in a transitional layer. 12 refs.; 2 figs.; 1 tab
