Physical aspects of reducing radiation-induced swelling in structural alloys
Description
Further study on the nature of phenomenon of recombination intensification of different defects in chromium nickel steels and alloys with a developed decomposition of solid solution under irradiation is conducted. This phenomenon is found to be due to the occurrence of elastically distorted regions around the formed pre-segregation of the second phase owing to dimensional inconsistency of eta at the ''formed phase-matrix'' interface. At eta>0.1 these solid solutions can promote the recombination processes of different defects in the presence of a certain dimensional inconsistency at the ''segregation-matrix'' interface. The results of the investigation permit to point out further ways of reducing or suppressing radiation swelling in structural alloys
