Preliminary measurements on the 14 MeV neutron emission from Frascati tokamak plasma by activation techniques

Description

Description of the activation method for measuring 14 MeV neutron emission from the FT tokamak plasma is given. Tritium burnup and its dependence on plasma current are measured. It is shown, that within the investigated range of plasma currents the tritons confinement in the FT tokamak is of classical character. Share of tritons, which are confined and act in nuclear reactions during the process of deceleration (∼103), agrees within measuring error limits with experimental data, obtained in the PLT and the PDX tokamaks. Conclusion is made, that the activation method on the basis of the 63Cu(n,2n)62Cu reaction is appliable for study of tritium confinement characteristics in the FT tokamak plasma in the single discharge mode with plasma current more, than 450 kA
