Superconductivity affected by Zr doping in Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy ceramic

Description

In order to study the effect of Zr doping on superconductivity of ceramics two groups of samples with composition Bi4-xZrxSr3Ca3Cu4Oy were prepared with x = 0, 0.02, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1, 2 by sintering and following furnace-cooling or quenching. Results of X-ray diffraction study and of measurement of electric conductivity and ac magnetic susceptibility of samples as a function of temperature are shown and explained. Relationships between x and lattice parameters and between x and Tc are given. It can be concluded that Zr doping in Bi4-xZrxSr3Ca3Cu4Oy will generate many oxygen vacancies, a structural disorder in the Bi-O plane, and depression of Tc
