Path-integral derivation of the Chern-Simons terms in heterotic string theories

Description
We consider the path-integral formulation of heterotic strings. Taking care of the four-fermion interaction, we rigorously compute the change of measure under local gauge and Lorentz transformations and trace the origin of Chern-Simons terms. The result agrees with the σ-model anomalies of Hull and Witten
