Supersymmetry breaking in the observable sector of superstring models

Description
Several contributions to the masses of the gauginos in models arising as low-energy limits of superstring theories are considered. It is shown that the dilaton field plays a crucial role in generating non-zero contributions at one loop. Some implications of this result are discussed. (orig.)
