Cartography of the radon emanation potential in Auvergne - Final report

Description

This study aimed at improving knowledge on exposure to radon in housings in the Auvergne region through an identification of differentiated geographic areas in terms of earth emissions. After a recall of some generalities on radon (recall on radioactivity, origin of radon, relationship between radon and health), the authors report data of exposure to radon in available buildings. They describe the geological context, and propose a cartography of the emission potential by taking uranium content of geological formations, mining permits and indexes, faults, into account. Some additional data are presented related to thermal sources, alpha and beta radiations, and exposure measurements in buildings.
