P-odd nuclear forces--Another source of parity violation in atoms

Description
A new area of interest is the study of P-odd effects in atoms that depend on nuclear spin. These effects have not yet been observed. They are approximately Z times smaller than those that have been studied. In this chapter, the author demonstrates that a considerably greater contribution to this effect in heavy atoms comes from the electromagnetic interaction of an electron with the anapole moment of the nucleus arising form P-odd nuclear forces
