Description

The relativistic approach to proton-nucleus scattering based on using the Dirac equation is reviewed. Particular attention is given to construction of a first-order optical potential from nucleon-nucleon scattering information. A complete set of Lorentz-invariant NN amplitudes is used to provide a dynamical basis for the Dirac potential. Calculations based on the generalized impulse approximation are presented. (author)
